Kimberly M. Ellis, Ph.D., CPA, Consultant
 
History:  Professor Ellis' ties to LOT go back over twelve years when she met Mr. Thompson at a National Association of Black Accountants (NABA) meeting. Since that time, they have developed a friendship built on mutual respect and trust. They both share a passion for helping small and medium size businesses improve their internal operations and a deep-seated commitment to integrity.
 
Experience Summary:  Professor Kimberly M. Ellis received her Ph.D. in Strategic Management from Florida State University. Prior to earning her doctoral degree, she worked for the General Electric (GE) Company having completed the Financial Management Program (FMP). During her four year tenure at GE, Professor Ellis held various positions in financial planning and analysis as well as corporate reporting. She received a B. S. degree in Accounting (with highest honors) from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and is a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in her home state of Virginia.
 
Professor Ellis' current research interests focus on the merger and acquisition (M&A) integration process, corporate social responsibility strategies, and the role of corporate governance in organizational change efforts. She has published in peer reviewed academic journals such as Journal of Business Ethics and Management International Review, wrote chapters in several edited books highlighting emerging research in M&As and corporate sustainability, and presented papers - several of which were nominated for best paper - at a number of international professional conferences.
 
Professor Ellis is a member of the Academy of Management, the Strategic Management Society, the Southern Management Association, and the Virginia Society of CPAs. In addition, she gives back to the local community by serving on the executive board, co-directing the multimedia ministry, and teaching the teenage Christian Education class at Eliezer Temple Church as well as serving as a board member, curriculum developer, and program facilitator for Successful Futures, Inc.- a nonprofit organization which empowers local youth by emphasizing the importance of values-based decision making.  Resume...
